The Board of the eLearning Network

I'm a consultant focussing on the use of web technologies to improve organisational learning, communication and performance. I have a diverse background, having been a retail manager before a move into HR and then on to training and development, where I went from stand-up training delivery to training manager. Later as Learning Technology Manager at B&Q I worked on a number of award-winning elearning and blended learning programmes, and championed the adoption of emerging tools such as blogs and wikis.
Although I spend a lot of time watching the horizon for new and innovative...

I've worked at Edvantage group for the last five years and in the learning industry for over 20 years. My background is in Learning Design - so my current role means I'm heavily involved in helping to inspire and create new learning solutions.

I am responsible for Learning Technologies at Lovells both for internal and client based training. I research technologies across different areas of training and am responsible for selecting and implementing the different products.
I have spoken at a number of conferences about the strategic and practical elements of implementing elearning and virtual classrooms in a city law firm.
I have been on the eln committee since 2006 and have been Vice-Chair since 2008.

I am currently an e-learning consultant as well as being part-time chair of the eLearning Network. Before this I was a co-founder of Epic, the elearning developer, and before that (in distant history) Director, Training and Creative Services for American Express.

I manage a team of IT trainers based in London and CEE. I also have an online author. We deliver classroom training with a constructive methodology, we have an international trainer for our CEE offices. We use virtual classroom technologies and we create online learning in-house for pre and post help.

I've been working with people and technology for more years than I care to think. My interest is in bridging the gap between what technologists think people need and what people need in reality to help them perform differently - perhaps I should include translation and conversion services on my CV. I've been involved with different aspects of learning delivery over many years and continue to be intrigued and passionate about what's coming through.

I've been involved in training since 1995, running predominently IT courses. I have also been involved on the soft skills side through courses such as induction, coaching skills, train the trainer, customer service etc. Whilst I still enjoy providing training via any medium, I am also responsible for our LMS and online learning development. I want this to be relevant & enjoyable for the learners, and to use new methods and collaboration where we can identify a need.

For ten years I have been designing and building elearning content for large UK and international organisations. In 2005 I founded LearningAge Solutions so I could use and develop my creative and technical talents equally. Through LearningAge Solutions I provides a number of elearning services including consultancy and bespoke content design and development, whilst having a lot of fun in the process. My current main areas of interest are scenario and storyline-based learning, ‘rapid’ author tools, and sharing simple best practices that help new-comers build better content.

I divide my time between independent consulting, and part-time employment as the Chief Executive of ALT - the Association for Learning Technology. ALT is a UK professional and scholarly association which promotes good practice in the use of learning technologies in education and industry, and facilitates collaboration between learning technology practitioners, researchers, and policy makers.
