A world of learning opportunities: World of Learning 2009

World of Learning 2009, the UK’s key conference and exhibition for business learning, will draw thousands of learning and development professionals to the NEC, Birmingham when it takes place on 30 September & 1 October 2009.
The latest developments in e-learning will feature prominently. The event incorporates a world-class conference programme featuring leading international speakers and inspiring high profile case studies. The agenda focuses on the impact of the economic downturn on organisations, the role of L&D in contributing to organisational performance, and how L&D professionals can learn the necessary skills to face the challenges of today’s pressures and demands. The speakers include Nick Shackleton-Jones, Manager – Online and Informal Learning at the BBC, who will be examining new directions for online learning, and Iain Clements, Learning Management System Specialist at Diageo, who will be exploring how to deliver more effective learning for less and will share the Diageo Diagnostic Tool with delegates.
The exhibition also includes a variety of invaluable features designed to enhance the skills and development of L&D professionals as well as demonstrating new techniques and solutions for business learning. These include a programme of free seminars, an Experiential Learning Zone, the BILD Advice Clinic and skills workshops, the Serious Games Zone, product presentations, the Energiser Zone and a Networking Café.
Among the presentations in the free seminars is ‘Learning Fast!’, a session presented by Chris Chappell, Managing Director at Autonomy Multimedia, who will be demonstrating how simple low-cost e-learning solutions can achieve a real and measurable impact on business. Also taking part are Lesley McGuire, Learning Technology Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, and Martin Addison, Managing Director of Video Arts, who will explore trends in video and e-learning, while Howard Hills, Head of Research at Towards Maturity CIC will be offering an insight into over 300 organisations and the lessons that can be learnt from their success or otherwise with learning technologies.
More than 110 major industry organisations will be exhibiting, offering the latest ideas and solutions to the learning and development industry needs. These include: AccessPlan IT, which is launching the latest version of Accessplan LMS; Intelligent Assessment Technologies, which is showcasing its e-assessment platform ExamOnline; and Questionmark Computing, which will be revealing a new web-based authoring tool.
